Named by a song of well-known Lithuanian bard Vytautas Kernagis the festival becomes a continuous event, filling summer cultural calendar with two days of live music, interesting discussions, meaningful and pleasant being with poetry on last weekend of August.
The festival „Purple evening“ takes place in a perfect area, filled with songs and singing – Dainuvos (Song‘s) valley in Anykščiai. Natural, cosy atmosphere and special aura of valley won‘t leave anybody indifferent, when listening to sung poetry and enjoying live communication.
28th of August is the day for young songwriters and musicians from all around Lithuania. Talented young people making their first steps in this field, but some of them already the winners of Republican sung poetry contest for schoolchildren, participants of different students’ initiatives. There are also young students’ groups participating such as “Stipriai kitaip” and “Liūdni slibinai“, which already have their own audience and admirers.
As the festival is dedicated to bard Vytautas Kernagis each participant of the evening concert has to prepare one of his songs. Festival‘s arrangers believe that such idea could help young musicians to discover Kernagis‘ rich heritage of good lyrics, and make his songs sounded by other generations.
The Grand evening concert with famous Lithuanian bards - on 29th of August. The audience will have a possibility to see and listen to Gediminas Storpirštis, Olegas Ditkovskis, Saulius Bareikis, Andrius Kulikauskas, Aidas Giniotis, Vytautas V. Landsbergis, Domantas Razauskas, Ieva Narkutė and others.
Those who are interested in tea ceremonies and wish to learn more about different types of tea are welcome to Friday‘s meeting-discussion „Tea and magic“. To find out more about your personality, creativity and the one‘s potential have a possibility to attend the discussion with bioenergetics master. In the midnight Vorutos mound in Anykščiai will be full of well-known Lithuanian writers, poets, philosophers, who will read loud „The White Book“. That book is based on 10 questions about future of Lithuania and its present, people relations and etc. answered by well-known people.
The Patron of National singer-songwriters’ festival “Purple evening” is the Culture Minister Remigijus Vilkaitis.
Tickets are available only on festival’s days. The possibility to stay in tent camp.
